(June 9, 2026) A Harford County firearm theft investigation led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Edgewood man and the recovery of several weapons after deputies tracked the teen aboard a Harford Transit bus and intercepted him near the Aberdeen MARC Train Station, authorities said.

Just moments ago, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office announced that the case began on June 4, 2026, when deputies responded to the 1800 block of Harbinger Trail in Edgewood for a reported handgun theft. Investigators identified Elijah Nana Djan Bonse, 18, as the suspect and obtained court-authorized search warrants as the investigation progressed.

The following day, members of the Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) launched a surveillance operation to locate Bonse. Deputies observed him boarding a Harford Transit bus and monitored his movements as he traveled toward the Aberdeen MARC Train Station, where investigators believed he intended to continue traveling toward Baltimore.

Authorities said deputies safely detained Bonse as he exited the bus, avoiding any danger to passengers or the public. During the arrest, investigators recovered a handgun optic, commonly known as a red dot sight.

Following the arrest, members of the CSU and the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division executed a search warrant at Bonse’s residence in the 1500 block of Harford Square Drive in Edgewood.

During the search, investigators recovered the stolen handgun, a rifle with an obliterated serial number, loaded magazines, and additional ammunition.

Bonse was transported to the Harford County Detention Center, where he was charged with multiple firearm-related offenses. Authorities said he is being held without bail pending further court proceedings.

The investigation remains ongoing.
