Attempted murder suspect wanted in Apopka arrested at gas station in St. Lucie County

In the early hours of July 28, 2025, deputies with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Operations Bureau apprehended 45-year-old Llionel Jaamare Simpson of Apopka, in connection with an attempted murder investigation out of Apopka, Florida.
Simpson was the subject of a BOLO issued by the Apopka Police Department. Following intel from Apopka authorities, deputies responded to the area of Orange Avenue and Interstate 95 after receiving the information to search for the suspect vehicle.
Deputies located the vehicle unoccupied at the Flying J gas station. A man wearing a white shirt and green shorts was seen exiting the store and began pumping gas into the vehicle. A coordinated felony stop was conducted. The individual, identified as Llionel Jaamare Simpson, was taken into custody without incident.
“This arrest underscores the vital importance of interagency collaboration and real-time information sharing,” said Sheriff Richard Del Toro. “The coordinated efforts between the Apopka Police Department, our Patrol Operations Bureau, and the use of advanced technologies were key to the safe and swift apprehension of a dangerous suspect. I’m proud of the outstanding work by our deputies.”
