Bel Air man arrested on 10 counts of possessing child pornography
Maryland State Police announced Wednesday the arrest of a Harford County man accused of possessing child pornography. Troopers identified the suspect as 51-year-old Matthew McMahon of Bel Air, who was taken into custody on Tuesday following a months-long investigation.

McMahon faces 10 counts of possession of child pornography. According to Fox 5 Baltimore, he is also the father of one of the children of Rachel Morin, the 37-year-old mother of five whose 2023 rape and murder on the Ma & Pa Trail in Bel Air drew national attention and intensified debate over U.S. immigration policy.
Authorities say the investigation into McMahon began in September 2025, when a Maryland State Police trooper assigned to the Harford County Child Advocacy Center initiated a probe into the online possession and viewing of child sexual abuse material. During the course of the investigation, McMahon was identified as allegedly having photos and videos that depicted child pornography.
On Tuesday, investigators from multiple agencies— including the Maryland State Police Child Exploitation Unit, the Harford County Child Advocacy Center, the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and Homeland Security Investigations— executed a search warrant at McMahon’s Bel Air residence. He was arrested at the scene.
McMahon was taken to the Harford County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond pending trial, police said.
