Brevard County man jailed without bond following home invasion and sexual assault

(January 8, 2026) A Brevard County man has been arrested and jailed without bond after investigators say he carried out a violent home invasion and sexual assault earlier this week, authorities announced Wednesday.

Kelvin Johnson was taken into custody by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office GAMEOVER Task Force and charged with sexual battery, home invasion robbery, aggravated assault, and violation of probation in connection with the January 5 attack.

Deputies responded after a woman was found banging on a neighbor’s door, pleading for help. According to investigators, the victim reported that a man she had noticed lingering around her apartment complex for several days forced his way into her residence while she was moving out, held her at knifepoint, and sexually assaulted her.

Authorities said the suspect fled the scene with the victim’s cellphone and car keys.

The victim provided a detailed description of her attacker, and surveillance video from the surrounding area helped investigators identify Johnson as the suspect. Agent Michelle Sweet-Caporizzo obtained a no-bond arrest warrant, which was signed by Judge Charlie Crawford.

Johnson was located and arrested later that day and is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail Complex. Sheriff Wayne Ivey credited the quick actions of the victim, a neighbor who called for help, and responding deputies, agents, and crime scene investigators for the rapid arrest.

“This is a horrific and deeply disturbing crime,” Ivey said in a statement. “Our focus now is supporting the victim and ensuring the suspect is held accountable.”

Ivey added that the investigation into this alarming incident remains ongoing.
