Cops track down Baltimore child sex trafficker through his Instagram account

(October 16, 2025) Yesterday, the Baltimore County Police Department announced that the agency’s Special Victims Unit and Crimes Against Children Unit were made aware of several juvenile victims of local sex trafficking.  Those young victims were discovered to be at risk this past summer.

According to police, their suspect, 38-year-old Ricardo Sawyer, had employed several different methods to approach victims and potential victims in-person and through social media, including handing out pamphlets and business cards.

According to charging documents, Sawyer, who has the handle “Bmorerico” on Instagram, provided U.S. currency, gifts, and other forms of payment in exchange for sexual acts with a victim who went to police. ~ WBAL-TV

Police were able to identify and track down Sawyer through his Instagram account and phone number, according to WMAR-2 News.  One young victim told police that Sawyer approached her in Baltimore City.  Charging documents stated that although the victim told Sawyer she was only 14, he still enticed her into sexual acts and compensated her afterward.

“Sawyer would then allegedly introduce the victim to other men and have her perform sexual acts with them for compensation.”

While multiple victims have been identified, investigators believe there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Baltimore County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit at 410-887-7720.

The Baltimore County PD’s investigation was conducted in conjunction with the FBI Baltimore Field Office’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force. Sawyer is currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on multiple sex offense charges.
