Florida teen arrested after luring minors, supplying drugs and engaging in sexual acts, Sheriff says
(January 6, 2026) Yesterday, Florida’s Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office announced that an investigation commenced into 18-year-old James Scheuerel. The teen is accused of luring two minors to his home on New Years Eve where he smoked illicit narcotics with them and engaged in sexual activity with one of them.
The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and multiple search warrants were conducted on Scheuerel’s residence. Following his interview with law enforcement officials, Scheuerel admitted to engaging in sexual acts with one of the minors.

Scheuerell was arrested and charged with the following:
- Lewd and Lascivious Battery of Victim 12 to 16 Years old.
- Traveling to Meet a Minor with a device with electronic data or transmission.
- Possess controlled substance without prescription (THC Wax).
- Possession or use of drug paraphernalia.
- Contributing to Delinquency by Act Causing Child to be Needy (Two Counts of suppling and using THC Wax with both juveniles).
Scheuerel is currently in custody in the Charlotte County Jail. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office maintains headquarters in Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte.
