Chris O’Neal, a former Nickelodeon actor best known for his role on “How to Rock,” was arrested in Malibu, California, on March 16, 2026, in connection with an alleged home burglary, according to multiple reports.

Authorities say deputies responded to a call around 5:45 a.m. after a homeowner reported seeing three individuals inside their residence via security camera footage. The suspects allegedly entered through the back of the home and tampered with cameras to obscure visibility. Law enforcement later confirmed that items had been taken from the property.

O’Neal, 31, was taken into custody and booked at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lost Hills station on a felony burglary-related allegation. Several other individuals were also reportedly detained in connection with the incident. Officials noted that O’Neal was not armed at the time of his arrest.

However, the case took a turn when O’Neal was released the following day. Authorities cited “insufficient grounds to file a complaint,” and prosecutors ultimately declined to pursue formal charges at this time, classifying the situation as a “detention only.” O’Neal has not publicly commented on the incident, and it remains unclear whether the investigation is ongoing or if additional evidence could lead to future charges.

Born in Teaneck, New Jersey, Chris O’Neal rose to prominence as a teen actor in the early 2010s. He starred as Kevin Reed on Nickelodeon’s How to Rock in 2012 and co-hosted the network’s You Gotta See This. He also appeared in the Nickelodeon TV movie Swindle alongside Ariana Grande and Jennette McCurdy.

O’Neal later expanded his career with roles on Disney Channel’s K.C. Undercover and gained wider recognition as Daniel Hayward on Netflix’s Greenhouse Academy, which ran from 2017 to 2020. His more recent work includes the 2024 film Amp House Massacre.

In past interviews, O’Neal has said he was inspired to pursue acting after watching The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, citing a desire to make people happy and connect emotionally with audiences.

While no formal charges have been filed, the circumstances surrounding the alleged burglary remain under scrutiny. It is unclear whether investigators will revisit the case or if additional suspects could face charges. For now, O’Neal is not facing prosecution, but the incident could have implications for his public image and future acting opportunities.
