Investigation into suspicious death of Ft. Pierce 3-month-old baby continues

On August 20, 2025, at approximately 12:05 p.m., deputies, detectives, and crime scene investigators from Florida’s St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office responded to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center regarding a deceased three-month-old baby boy who had been brought to the emergency room by the child’s grandparents. Upon arrival, medical staff advised that the child was deceased and showed signs consistent with possible neglect.
Medical and law-enforcement officials are still trying to determine how the baby died.
WPBF quoted Lt. Andrew Bolonka of the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office as stating, “They [investigators] did interviews with certain family members as well as medical staff. Ultimately, the death was deemed very suspicious in nature.”
“You have a 3-month-old child that arrives at a hospital deceased, medical staff based on what they see find it very suspicious and thus the investigation,” Bolonka said.
As part of the ongoing investigation into the death of the three-month-old child, a search warrant was executed at approximately 5:30 p.m. on August 20, 2025, at the residence associated with the case. Detectives worked late into the evening collecting evidence, conducting interviews with family members, and canvassing the immediate neighborhood.
WPBF reported that baby boy’s home was located on Silverstream Circle in Fort Pierce, and that investigators searched inside and outside of the residence. Officials have not yet disclosed what, if anything, they found during their search.

Shortly before the execution of the search warrant, the biological mother of the deceased baby and her boyfriend arrived at the residence. Both individuals were subsequently transported to the Criminal Investigations Division (CID), where they were interviewed in connection with the case.
Representatives from the Department of Children and Families (DCF) were present during the execution of the search warrant and remained involved throughout the interview process. In coordination with DCF, the two (2) remaining children in the home were removed and placed in a safe and secure environment.
An autopsy was scheduled to be conducted yesterday by the Medical Examiner to assist in determining the cause and manner of death. The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said that their investigation into this matter remains active and ongoing, and that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
As of this writing, no charges have been filed in connection with the boy’s death.
