On September 26, Missouri’s Perryville Police Department reported on an armed robbery that went down at a local QuickStop convenience store located at 1236 W. St. Joseph.  Police were dispatched to that location after receiving the 911 call on September 24 at approximately 5:45 a.m.

Surveillance video at that location recorded a white man with a concealed face that entered the store at approximately 5:40 a.m. He displayed a long-bladed knife at the attendant, then moved behind the register and took a bank bag from under the counter. The subject then fled the store, leaving in a black sedan, possibly a Nissan, toward MO 51.

During the course of the police investigation, a suspect was identified, and with the assistance of the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office, the male suspect was located, taken into custody, interviewed, and subsequently arrested.

The armed robbery suspect was identified as: Aaron Grant France, a.k.a. Clayton Leon Chandler, a homeless 25-year-old from Perryville.  Following his arrest, France was charged with:

  • Robbery 1st Degree, Class A Felony
  • Armed Criminal Action, Felony Unclassified
  • Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Felony E

France was issued a No Bond warrant and will stay in jail until his court hearing.

Perryville Police Chief Direk Hunt stated, “I would like to thank the Ste. Genieve County Sheriff’s Department for the assistance in this investigation. In addition, I want to acknowledge the diligent teamwork of our patrol officers and detective who work quickly and effectively to identify the suspect and get him apprehended.”
