Mickey Rourke evicted from Los Angeles home after defaulting in $60K rent dispute

(March 11, 2026) Actor Mickey Rourke has been formally evicted from his Los Angeles rental home after failing to respond to a court complaint over nearly $60,000 in unpaid rent, according to court records filed this week.
A judge in Los Angeles County Superior Court issued a default judgment Monday in favor of landlord Eric T. Goldie, granting possession of the Beverly Grove property and canceling Rourke’s lease. The ruling indicates that the 73-year-old actor did not file a legal response or appear in court to contest the eviction within the timeframe required under California law.
The dispute stems from a December notice ordering Rourke to pay $59,100 in back rent or vacate the three-bedroom home on Drexel Avenue within three days. The property reportedly rented for about $7,000 per month.
Rourke — known for films such as 9½ Weeks, Barfly, and his Oscar-nominated comeback performance in The Wrestler — had been living at the home since March 2025. Court filings show the landlord moved forward with eviction proceedings later that month after the rent remained unpaid.
In January, Rourke’s longtime manager Kimberly Hines launched a GoFundMe campaign seeking $100,000 to help cover the debt and keep the actor housed. Fans quickly contributed more than the target amount within days.
However, Rourke publicly rejected the fundraiser, calling it “humiliating” in an Instagram video and urging supporters to request refunds. The campaign was later removed from the platform.

Rourke has claimed he withheld rent because the house suffered from serious maintenance problems, including rodents, water damage and mold.
Rourke said he was in a “really bad situation” after new owners purchased the home he had been renting for years and would not fix anything. “I said I’m not paying rent, because there’s mice, there’s rats, the floor is rotten, one bathtub there is no water …” ~ The Los Angeles Times
Reports earlier this year indicated the actor had already moved out of the property and was staying at an upscale hotel in West Hollywood while the legal dispute continued.
With the court now granting possession of the property back to the landlord, the eviction case appears largely resolved. Rourke’s management team has said the actor is currently pursuing several film and creative projects, suggesting the veteran performer could soon shift attention from his housing dispute back to his entertainment career.
