New study reveals the Top 10 most fashionable U.S. states

A new study has revealed the most fashion-savvy states in America.
Clothing label experts Super Label Store gathered a list of key fashion-related terms, such as ‘outfit inspo’, ‘current fashion trends’ and ‘gq fashion’, and analyzed their search volumes in each state. The searches were ordered from highest to lowest to reveal the top 10 most fashion-savvy states.

Maryland residents search for fashion key terms 148.34 times a month per 100,000 of the population, making Maryland the fourth most fashion-savvy state. Maryland’s growing educational institutions and initiatives, like Baltimore’s Fashion Education Incubator, support emerging talent in creative industries, putting the state’s presence in the fashion world on an upward trajectory.
New York has taken the title of the most fashionable state in America. New Yorkers have shown the most interest in fashion, as they are searching for key terms 172.67 times a month per 100,000 residents.
This state is home to the iconic fashion powerhouse New York City, where more than 900 fashion HQs are located, more than any other city in the U.S. NYC has hosted New York Fashion Week since 1943, with an undeniable cultural and economic impact on fashion globally.
California is the second most fashionable state, as residents search for key fashion terms 154.47 times a month per 100,000 people. Home to fashion hotspots like Los Angeles, leading fashion schools and major fashion events like LA Fashion Week, this state is a pivotal player in the U.S. and global fashion industry.
Georgia residents are the third most fashionable Americans, with 151.92 monthly searches for current fashion, trends and inspiration per 100,000 residents. Georgia’s rising fashion hub, Atlanta, hosts its own Fashion Week and continues to emerge as a strong force in the U.S. fashion scene, with a rich culture and creative industry growth.
Florida ranks fifth, as the state accumulates 145.45 monthly fashion searches per 100,000 residents. The city of Miami has become a flourishing fashion capital that attracts celebrities, luxury brands and hosts its own Fashion Week.
New Jersey residents are the sixth most interested in fashion, as they search 145.16 times a month per 100,000 people for key terms, such as ‘wardrobe essentials’ and ‘trending outfits’. New Jersey is home to significant fashion events, like Fashion Week, NJ MODA Week, and the Jersey Shore Fashion Show, as well as an array of fashion companies and a growing hub for fashion design.
Nevada ranks seventh, where residents search for fashion 143.96 times a month per 100,000 of the population. Las Vegas has an expanding luxury retail market and hosts local fashion and trade shows.
In eighth place is Illinois, with 137.96 monthly searches per 100,000 residents.
Utah is in ninth place, as residents are researching fashion 137.64 times each month per 100,000 of the population.
Virginia residents are the tenth most fashionable in America, looking at fashion inspiration and keeping up with the current trends 137.63 times a month per 100,000 people.

Methodology: The study used data from Google Keyword Planner to reveal the rankings.
First, a seed list of initial search terms was established based on the commonly Googled terms relating to fashion. The full list of terms is listed below. Then the monthly average search volume for each term in each state was taken from Google Keyword Planner.
Once this was complete, the total number of monthly average searches in each location was compared against its population. This established the monthly average searches per 100,000 people, allowing for an accurate comparison of the search rate across locations of differing sizes.
