On Friday, October 10, the Baltimore County Police Department announced the unsettling news that a 16-year-old was criminally charged as an adult after an incident that occurred at Parkville High School that same morning.

Around 11:30 a.m. on Friday, officers responded to the high school located at 2600 Putty Hill Avenue in Parkville after a student ran from administrators who were about to search the student’s book bag. As the student fled from the school, administrators reported seeing the handle of what appeared to be a handgun.

A School Resource Officer assigned to Parkville High School took the student into custody and later located an unloaded firearm that had been discarded.  During a secondary search of the area, officers located a discarded magazine. The student is currently charged with a handgun violation.
