Temple Hills man charged in fatal shooting of former girlfriend in Prince George’s County

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — A Temple Hills man is facing murder charges after Prince George’s County police say he fatally shot his former girlfriend during a domestic-related incident on the night of July 4.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:10 p.m. to the 1900 block of Brooks Drive following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found 31-year-old Dakota Keys of Capitol Heights inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite emergency response efforts, Keys was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified the suspect as 31-year-old Terrence Penn Jr. of Temple Hills, who police say fled immediately after the shooting. Authorities said Penn later turned himself in to law enforcement a short time afterward.
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has charged Penn with first-degree murder and second-degree murder in connection with the killing. He is currently being held by the Department of Corrections without bond.
