On October 3, Florida’s Broward Sheriff’s Office reported that three bad actors who flew into Fort Lauderdale from Baltimore on Saturday morning, September 27, could not make their evening return flight because they ended up in a Broward County, Florida, jail.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport arrested the two men and a woman after they stuffed hundreds of dollars’ worth of designer fragrances into bags after hitting the duty-free shops. When they returned to the airport in the evening to catch their flight back to Baltimore with the stolen goods, deputies observed them in the airport.
One suspect, Javon Darrell Staten, attempted to run from deputies. He dropped his bags filled with perfume and sneakers as he was making his run for it. Staten did not get too far though and all three were captured and taken into custody.
Javon Darrell Staten, 34, William Arthur Manning, 53, and Rachael Manning, 37, all face charges that include grand theft and fraud. Staten faces added charges of resisting an officer without violence and violating probation.
