Three Baltimore men charged in May 7 shooting murder of 15-year-old

On May 8, police in Baltimore announced that detectives made three arrests in connection to a murder that went down in the Eastern District on May 7.  Baltimore City Police Department identified those taken into custody as 34-year-old Rodsheead Alexander, 19-year-old Zion Wimbish, and 19-year-old Ra’Shawn Smith.

The three were arrested in connection with the murder of 15-year-old John Lewis, which took place in the 3500 block of Brehms Lane.

Background: On May 7 at approximately 6:13 p.m., Eastern District officers were on a call for service when they heard gunshots in the area of the 3500 block of Brehms Lane.  When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers also stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Mannasota at Brendan Avenue and observed a 15-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment, where despite medical efforts, the 15-year-old teen, later identified as John Lewis was pronounced deceased.

Following the May 8 arrests, police transported Rodsheead Alexander and Zion Wimbish to the Central Booking, where they were charged with first-degree murder. Ra’Shawn Smith, who was also injured in the shooting, was taken to an area hospital for treatment before being brought to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he too was charged with first-degree murder.
