Warner Bros. and DC Studios unveiled the long-teased footage this morning, delivering hours of hype following countdown billboards and teaser posts across platforms. The newly released trailer gave us our first substantive look at Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El — a sharp-edged, emotionally complex Supergirl navigating a cosmic journey distinct from her cousin’s hopeful legacy.

The trailer depicts a young, edgy super woman who has stepped out from under her cousin’s shadow,

Supergirl is set to soar into theaters June 26, 2026.

The teaser trailer released today gives us much more than flying Kryptonians — it sets a tone, world, and character arc all its own and throws viewers straight into Kara Zor-El’s world — and it isn’t sunshine and family picnics. We see:

  • Kara hungover and dusting herself off in what looks like a dingy bar or hangout, hinting she’s been drifting across the universe rather than settling down as a traditional hero.
  • Krypto the Superdog makes a charming appearance alongside her, contributing to some levity amid the deeper emotional beats and reminding fans of classic DC cuteness.
  • Lobo’s First AppearanceThere’s also a “blink-and-you’ll-miss-him” glimpse of Jason Momoa’s Lobo, teasing his arrival as either antagonist or chaotic neutral ally, adding weight to the trailer’s tone and expanding the DC Universe cast.

The Supergirl trailer delivers action and attitude. From stylized outer space visuals and intergalactic stakes to blunt emotional beats and clever one-liners, it sets a tone that feels fresh within the DC Universe.  Critics and fans alike noted the contrast with the more inspirational Superman tone — instead framing Supergirl’s journey as a “punk-rock” quest for personal truth and justice, even if that justice comes with a heavy dose of cynicism, wrote The Playlist.

Reactions on social media regarding Milly Alcock in the super role are generally favorablewithfans on Reddit expressing surprise and excitement about her portrayal, saying she brings a raw, real presence to Kara — “a toughness and depth we haven’t seen before.”

With no further ado, see the Supergirl trailer below, which only hours after its release had gone viral.
