Upper Marlboro man charged with murder in recent Suitland shooting

On June 6, the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit announced that they charged a man in connection with a recent deadly shooting in Suitland, Maryland. Police identified their suspect as 35-year-old James Stewart of Upper Marlboro. He’s charged with the murder of 32-year-old Myandre McBride of Suitland.

Background: On June 3 at approximately 12:35 p.m., officers responded to the 5600 block of Regency Park Court for the report of a shooting. Officers located McBride and a second male victim inside an apartment, both suffering gunshot wounds. McBride was pronounced dead on the scene.

The second victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. He remains in critical but stable condition.

During the course of their investigation into the shootings, detectives identified Stewart as gunman. The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and victim were known to each other and were involved in an ongoing dispute.

Stewart has been charged with first-degree murder and related charges. He’s in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
