Road rage dashcam video leads to arrest after shooting shuts down I-295 in Anne Arundel County

and Arundel Mills Boulevard (MD-713) in Hanover, Anne Arundel County
A 21-year-old Prince George’s County man is facing attempted murder charges after Maryland State Police say dashcam footage helped investigators quickly identify and arrest him following an alleged road rage shooting along Interstate 295 in Anne Arundel County.
Authorities identified the suspect as Darius Bryant, 21, who was taken into custody Wednesday morning after U.S. Park Police located the vehicle linked to the shooting during a traffic stop in Washington, D.C. Bryant is currently being held on a felony fugitive warrant and is awaiting extradition to Maryland.
According to investigators, the violence erupted shortly before 7:30 a.m. on June 10 as a white Dodge van traveled northbound on I-295 near the Arundel Mills Boulevard exit. Police believe the van’s driver was struck by gunfire fired through the driver’s side of the vehicle. A passenger riding in the van was not injured.
Despite being wounded, the victim was able to drive himself to a nearby medical facility, where Maryland State Troopers met him before he was transferred to a local trauma center for treatment. The victim’s identity has not been released, and authorities say he remains under medical care.
Investigators say the victim provided a description of the suspect’s vehicle along with dashcam video, allowing police to quickly track down a white Genesis G70 believed to have been involved. The car was located in Washington, D.C. less than 90 minutes after the shooting.
During a court-authorized search of the Genesis, investigators recovered a loaded firearm. Maryland State Police K-9 teams and crime scene technicians also recovered a spent shell casing at the scene of the shooting.
The investigation was led by the Maryland State Police Highway Gun Crimes Initiative, with assistance from troopers assigned to the Glen Burnie Barrack, the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division, the Anne Arundel County Police Department, and U.S. Park Police.
The northbound lanes of I-295 were closed for approximately 3½ hours while investigators processed the scene, causing significant disruptions to the morning commute.
The investigation remains ongoing, and Maryland State Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has additional information to contact the Glen Burnie Barrack at (410) 761-5130. Callers may remain anonymous.
