On May 14, Florida’s Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) announced that three people have been charged with kidnapping after a break-in at a home on Mooney Road near Fort Walton Beach led to a man being beaten and forced into a car.

OCSO deputies said that the victims in this case reported a group of violent masked, armed individuals entered the home around 2:45 a.m. on Monday, May 12th, hitting and pepper spraying one of the residents, then forcing him into a car and beating him again at a trailer on Carlos Drive. That kidnapped victim managed to escape and get to a convenience store on Racetrack Road, where deputies found him bruised and bleeding. The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

He told deputies the intruders said they were looking for someone, but he didn’t have answers to their questions.  As deputies were investigating at the Mooney Road location, three of the individuals involved were spotted returning to the home and they were immediately detained.

27-year-old Joe Trejo and 30-year-old Lennys Cotto, both of Ocala, are charged with armed burglary and kidnapping. 17-year-old Kaylynn Corsi of Eustis (no photo available) is charged with kidnapping and providing a false name to law enforcement.

Cotto and Trejo are both being held in Okaloosa County Jail with no bond, according to WEAR News-3.

“These arrests are the result of a very rapid response and excellent work by our night shift patrol deputies and our investigators. They had to deal with multiple crime scenes and a complex evolving situation, and the outcome is commendable,” said Sheriff Eric Aden.
