Crestview teacher charged with having sexual relationship with minor student, 20 years ago
(June 11, 2025) Yesterday, Florida’s Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) announced charging a teacher following an investigation into a sexual relationship with a student – but one that that occurred two decades ago. Timothy John Sexton, now 58-years-old and a teacher at Crestview High School and a former teacher at Pryor Middle School, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student between April 2001 and July 2005. OCSO Investigators say the victim was 14 when the relationship started and continued until she was 17.
Sexton was taken into custody yesterday morning by members of the OCSO and the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force at his home on Jeff Drive in Crestview. Sexton is charged with sexual battery by a person in a custodial authority and sexual battery with a victim between 12-18 years of age.
The investigation began after a FortifyFL tip was received by the OCSO and Okaloosa County School District in late March 2025. Through interviews with the victim and witnesses, investigators obtained enough evidence for probable cause to arrest Sexton.
“There is no expiration date on seeking justice for victims,” said Sheriff Eric Aden. “This arrest underscores our unwavering commitment to pursuing the truth, no matter how much time has passed. We are proud of the work done by our investigators and encourage anyone who has been a victim to come forward.”
Sexton is currently being held at the Okaloosa County Jail with no bond.
