Homeland Security issues heightened terror threat for Americans and the U.S.

Although there are no publicly known specific and credible threats issued against the United States, on June 22, the Trump Administration’s Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS) Kristi Noem, issued a terror alert for all Americans in the form of a National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin. Noem’s heightened terror threat for Americans and the U.S. comes following Donald Trump’s bombing of three nuclear weapons sites in Iran on June 21.
“It is our duty to keep the nation safe and informed, especially during times of conflict,” saidNoem. “The ongoing Israel-Iran conflict brings the possibility of increased threat to the homeland in the form of possible cyberattacks, acts of violence, and antisemitic hate crimes.”
Following the bombings in Iran, Trump addressed the nation from the White House, saying in part:
“Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror.”
“Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not. Future attacks would be far greater and a lot easier.”

Although Trump went on to warn the Iranian government not to take any retaliatory actions against America for the bombings, on the very next day, Iran’s Parliament “approved the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, “according to a report from Iran’s state-owned Press TV that CNBC could not independently verify,” according to CNBC.
Reportedly, 20% of all global oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz on its way to various ports. According to multiple news outlets, if Iran were to close the Strait, it would trigger a significant global oil and gas supply shock, causing prices to soar and potentially destabilizing the global economy. A large percentage of the world’s oil and natural gas passes through this narrow waterway, making it a critical chokepoint for energy exports.
The closure would exacerbate existing tensions between Iran and other nations, particularly the U.S. While some alternative routes exist, they are not capable of handling the full volume of traffic currently using the Strait. In essence, closing the Strait of Hormuz would be a drastic action with far-reaching and potentially severe consequences for the global economy and international relations.

Following the issuing of yesterday’s National Terrorism Advisory Bulletin, America’s Homeland Security went on to advise that the terror bulletin would expire on September 22, 2025. The public should report any suspicious activity or threats of violence to local law enforcement, FBI Field Offices, or a local Fusion Center.
