Baltimore City man charged with assault and murder
On July 25, police in Baltimore City announced the arrest of 29-year-old Tyler Liggins of Baltimore in connection to a fatal assault that resulted in a car crash where 43-year-old Travon Booth was found dead in a vehicle on July 19 on I-83 North near the Ruxton Road exit. Investigators believe the incident originated in the 1100 block of West Northern Parkway.
Charging documents obtained by 11 News indicate Travon Booth got into an argument with another man at an apartment complex off West Northern Parkway in Baltimore City.
The charging documents state the other man and his foster brother, Tyler Liggins, 29, attacked Booth. Surveillance video shows the men putting Booth into his car while one of the assailants drove off.
The car was found crashed on I-83; witnesses said they saw a man running away shortly after the crash. ~ WBAL-TV
Background: On July 22, Baltimore Police Homicide detectives were notified by Maryland State Police of a homicide victim who was located deceased in a vehicle, following a single-vehicle crash on northbound I-83 near the Ruxton Road exit on July 19.
The victim, identified as Travon Booth was transported to the medical examiner’s office, where the death was ruled a homicide due to multiple blunt force injuries.
On July 23, Liggins was arrested and transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with first and second-degree assault and second-degree murder.
