(August 5, 2025) It was a day of darkness and tragedy yesterday when Florida’s Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) received a 911 call just after midnight from a 14-year-old boy who said that he had just shot and killed both of his parents in Middleburg.
The teen identified himself as 14-year-old Trevor Lee who told dispatchers on the phone he had killed his parents inside their home on Silver Point, located in the Fleming Island area of Middleburg. He then said that he was waiting at a nearby church parking lot to be taken into custody.
Sheriff Michelle Cook said Trevor Lee, just 14 years old, got into an argument with his parents, 44-year-old David Lee and 45-year-old Brandi Lee, moments before opening fire. ~ First Coast News
After receiving the 911 call, deputies rushed to both locations. Upon arrival at the residence, they located two deceased individuals inside the home: David Lee, 44, and Brandi Smith, 45. Both had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. Deputies also made contact with the 14-year-old caller a short distance away. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with two counts of second-degree murder.
Based on their preliminary investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said that this appears to be an isolated, domestic-related incident and that there was no threat to the community. The Sheriff’s Office also asked if anyone has any additional information regarding this tragic incident to please call them at 904-264-6512.
