Prince George’s County man charged with murdering housemate
(August 10, 2025) On Friday, Prince George’s County Police Homicide detectives announced the arrest of a man in connection with the murder of his mother’s boyfriend. The suspect is 24-year-old Clarence Green Jr. of Accokeek. He is charged with the murder of 38-year-old Gene Garrett Jr., also of Accokeek.
On August 8 at approximately 12:00 am, officers responded to the 16000 block of Caribbean Way in Accokeek for the report of a shooting. Officers located Gene Garrett Jr. inside the residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Garrett was pronounced dead on the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect shot the victim as a result of an on-going dispute. Green and Garrett were known to each other and shared a residence. Green was taken into custody on the scene without incident.
Clarence Green was charged with first degree murder, assault, and additional related charges. He is being held at the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.
