Reward offered for info leading to arrest of 10-year-old boy’s murderer
It’s been a year since the evening of Monday, August 5, 2024, when 10-year-old Tyron Colbert, Jr. was inside his Salisbury, Maryland, home with his mother and siblings. At first, it was a night like any other – until a gunshot rang out – with the deadly bullet finding Tyron. The 10-year-old was taken to the hospital but died there from his injuries. He was just six weeks away from turning 11.
One year after his murder, law enforcement officials in Maryland are still looking for Tyron’s killer and are renewing their calls for the public’s assistance.
A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered by the FBI, the Maryland Department of State Police, and Crime Solvers of the Eastern Shore for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for the murder of Tyron Colbert.
Background: At approximately 10:30 p.m. on August 5, 2024, officers from the Salisbury Police Department responded to a residence in the 200 block of Clay Street in Salisbury after receiving a 9-1-1 call for a reported shooting. Responding officers found the victim, later identified as Tyron, with an apparent gunshot wound.
Excerpt from his obituary: “Born in Salisbury, he was the son of Tyron M. Colbert, Sr. and Korey Dashiell Colbert. He attended Supernatural Faith and East Salisbury Elementary School. Tyron played football with Salisbury Elite Football Team and basketball at Salvation Army. He was a member of the Boys and Girls Club.”
The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into Tyron’s murder and is being assisted by the Salisbury City Police Department. A suspect description is still unknown at this time.
