After two-day search, body of drowning victim recovered from Beaver Dam in Cockeysville

On the evening of Sunday, August 17, the Baltimore County Police Department received a call regarding a person who had gone missing in the waters of the Beaver Dam Swim Club, the popular swimming hole and quarry in Cockeysville, Maryland. That call came in around 6 p.m.
Search and rescue efforts commenced but were called off when night set in. In addition to the darkness, Beaver Dam is a spring fed quarry, and the water is deep, cold and murky which hampered rescue efforts. Those efforts resumed on Monday morning and continued until the body of the missing swimmer was recovered yesterday.
The drowning victim was identified as 36-year-old Michael Randle of Baltimore City. Michael’s family told WMAR-2 News that he had recently been released from prison and was actively working to put his life back together. His younger brother, Terrell Randle, told WMAR-2 News that his brother knew how to swim.
On Tuesday evening, police in Baltimore County announced that they had recovered Michael’s body, and that #BCoPD Underwater Recovery Team (URT) along with Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Howard County Fire Departments, Maryland State Police URT, Delaware State Police Marine Team, and a volunteer group that has water cadaver dogs assisted in the search.
