Heidi Klum transforms into modern-day Medusa at annual ‘Heidiween’ bash

At her annual Halloween gala in New York City, supermodel, TV personality and all-around hot property Heidi Klum stunned guests by unveiling an elaborate, full-scale rendition of the mythological gorgon Medusa — complete with writhing snake-hair, green scales, and fangs, according to The Associated Press.
The transformation required nine to ten hours of makeup and costuming, and involved a team of more than 15 special-effects professionals. Klum revealed she’s been planning the concept since spring 2025, citing her desire to reinterpret the classic monster in a “modern, very ugly” way.
This year marks the 24th edition of Klum’s legendary “Heidiween” event at the Hard Rock Hotel — a spectacle that’s become an annual cultural event. Her husband, Tom Kaulitz, accompanied her on the red carpet, dressed as a Greek soldier petrified to stone, directly referencing the myth of Medusa’s deadly gaze.
People shared that Klum shot with Instagram teasers in the days leading up to the event — cryptic moldings, partial makeup reveals, and references to “very ugly” makeup. She thanked makeup-artist Mike Marino, whose credits include Oscar nominations and an Emmy win, for helping bring the gorgon to life.

Attendees included a host of costume-heavy celebrities, and the spectacle introduces the Halloween season in grand fashion. “Halloween is the one day I get to be completely silly, create a world, and celebrate with friends,” Klum told Vogue.
For fans and followers alike, this year’s Medusa look isn’t just another costume — it’s a statement: Halloween has found its queen again, and she’s bringing mythology to the red carpet. For more on the story, see the video below.
