(December 8, 2025) — In an alarming incident on the evening of December 6, a Brevard County woman was arrested on multiple charges, including driving under the influence (DUI) and leaving the scene of a crash, following a hit-and-run collision on Interstate 95.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a hit-and-run after a driver, whose vehicle had broken down, was struck by a white sedan while parked on the side of the highway. The victim, who was outside of his vehicle, observed the sedan hit his car at a low speed before reversing and striking it again. As the victim attempted to address the situation, the driver of the sedan, later identified as 35-year-old Shannan Miller, fled the scene, traveling southbound on I-95.

Simultaneously, deputies received a call about a possible impaired driver traveling at 30 mph on the same stretch of highway. Deputy Daren Fedro quickly located Miller’s vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Upon approaching the car, Deputy Fedro observed Miller struggling to locate her identification and noted an open bottle of Fireball whiskey in the passenger seat.

As Miller exited the vehicle, she had difficulty maintaining her balance but agreed to perform field sobriety tests. The tests, however, did not go in her favor. Miller’s breathalyzer results revealed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.173 and 0.169, more than twice the legal limit.

Miller was arrested and charged with DUI, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, and DUI with damage to property. She was transported to the Brevard County Jail for booking.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey issued a statement urging the public to make responsible decisions this holiday season. “No one likes a Grinch, especially when their reckless actions endanger others. This time of year should be filled with joy, not putting lives at risk. Our deputies will continue to hold offenders accountable and keep our roads safe,” Ivey said.
