Matthew Stafford clinches 2026 AP NFL MVP Award: A triumph of determination and skill
(February 6, 2026) Last night in stunning recognition of his skill, leadership, and resilience, Matthew Stafford has been named the 2026 AP NFL Most Valuable Player. The Los Angeles Rams quarterback’s exceptional performance this season has earned him the league’s most prestigious individual honor, placing him among the NFL’s elite quarterbacks.
A Historic Season: Stafford, 37 (with his 38th birthday on Feb. 8,) led the Rams to a dominant regular-season record. He finished the 2025-2026 NFL regular season, as of February 2026, with league-leading numbers, throwing for 4,707 yards, 46 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. He was considered a top MVP favorite with a 109.2 passer rating, according to ESPN.
From Detroit to Glory: Stafford’s journey to MVP hasn’t been without its struggles. A former No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions, Stafford spent the majority of his career with a team that rarely competed for championships.
