(April 2, 2026) Iconic singer/songwriter/guitarist and Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer Lindsey Buckingham was the target of an alleged stalker attack in Santa Monica, California, after a woman reportedly threw an unknown substance at the musician as he arrived for an appointment, according to law enforcement officials. The incident reportedly went down on March 25 as Buckingham, 76, entered a building in the coastal city.

Authorities say the suspect—described as a woman with a documented history of stalking the former Fleetwood Mac guitarist—approached and doused him with an unidentified substance before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, Buckingham was not injured.

Investigators believe the woman may have tracked Buckingham’s schedule and waited for him in advance. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Threat Management Unit, which handles high-risk stalking cases, is leading the investigation in coordination with Santa Monica police. Officials have identified the suspect but have not publicly released her name; no arrest had been made as of April 2, although police say one is expected.

The case follows prior legal action involving the same suspect. In December 2024, Buckingham obtained a restraining order against a woman accused of stalking him for several years, with allegations including repeated harassment, threats, and a false emergency report that prompted a police response to his home.

The woman being held by authorities has reportedly been identified by media outlets as “Michelle.”

In December 2024, Buckingham filed a request for a restraining order against Michelle Dick, who was 53 at the time of that filing. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Elizabeth Scully granted the order, which mandates that Dick stay at least 100 yards away from Buckingham, his wife and his son. She was also ordered not to harass or attempt to make contact with him in any way.  ~ Los Angeles Times

Despite the alarming encounter, Buckingham continues to remain active professionally. The legendary guitarist recently celebrated the reissue of the 1973 Buckingham Nicks album with Stevie Nicks, which charted for the first time following its 2025 re-release. He has also indicated that a new solo album is nearing completion and that a Fleetwood Mac documentary is in development.

Buckingham parted ways with Fleetwood Mac in 2018 following a dispute over lost wages with the band.

Authorities say that their investigation into this case is active and ongoing.  For more on the attack on the famed and former Fleetwood Mac guitarist, see the video below.
