Baltimore woman charged with murdering estranged husband following domestic dispute

A Baltimore County woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Northwest Baltimore that police say stemmed from a domestic-related dispute.
According to the Baltimore Police Department, 49-year-old Rene Parks was taken into custody on April 1 at her home in Lutherville, just hours after the March 31 shooting that left 43-year-old Garreth Parks Jr. dead. She now faces multiple charges, including first- and second-degree murder, assault, and handgun violations.
Officers were called to the 3700 block of West Belvedere Avenue around 10:15 p.m., where they discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside a parked vehicle. Medics transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
Charging documents allege the shooting occurred after Parks approached the victim’s vehicle in a separate car. Witnesses told investigators that an argument unfolded moments before the suspect allegedly produced a handgun and fired a single shot through the driver’s side window, striking the victim in the neck.
Police say the victim’s girlfriend, who was seated in the passenger seat, attempted to render aid until first responders arrived. Investigators recovered ballistic evidence at the scene and later executed search warrants at the suspect’s home and vehicle, locating ammunition and firearm-related items. Authorities noted that the weapon believed to have been used in the shooting has not been recovered.
CBS News Baltimore reports the victim and suspect were estranged at the time of the incident. Court records indicate that, as of April 3, no attorney had been listed for Rene Parks.
The Baltimore Police Department continues to investigate and is urging anyone with additional information to contact homicide detectives.
