Shane Lowry makes Masters history with second career ‘hole-in-one’ in Augusta

(April 12, 2026) Shane Lowry delivered one of the most electrifying moments of the 2026 Masters on Saturday, carding a historic hole-in-one at Augusta National to become the first player ever to record multiple aces at the tournament.
The Irishman’s breakthrough came at the par-3 sixth hole, where he struck a 7-iron from roughly 180–190 yards. The ball bounced a few times before dropping into the cup, sending Lowry into celebration and the Augusta crowd into a frenzy. The shot marked the first ace of this year’s Masters and just the seventh ever recorded on the notoriously difficult sixth hole.

Lowry’s latest ace adds to his first at Augusta in 2016, when he holed out on the par-3 16th. The achievement earned him a second crystal bowl — the traditional prize for a hole-in-one at the Masters — further cementing his place in tournament history.
Beyond the milestone, the moment carried major implications for the leaderboard. Lowry finished the third round at 9-under par after shooting a 68, putting him just two strokes behind co-leaders Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young heading into Sunday’s final round.
The ace also continues a remarkable run for Lowry, who has now recorded holes-in-one at several of golf’s most iconic venues, including Pebble Beach and TPC Sawgrass, as well as a recent ace at the Houston Open.
With momentum on his side and a green jacket within reach, Lowry will tee off in the penultimate group today looking to turn a historic shot into a career-defining victory. For more on Lowry’s hole-in-one at the 2026 Masters, see the video below.
