(May 11, 2026)  Global pop superstar Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung, accusing the electronics company of using her image without permission to market and sell televisions across the United States.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in early May 2026, alleges that Samsung featured a copyrighted backstage photograph of Lipa—taken at the 2024 Austin City Limits Music Festival—prominently on TV packaging distributed nationwide in 2025 and 2026. According to the lawsuit, the image was used without her consent, compensation, or involvement, creating the false impression that she endorsed the products.

Lipa’s legal team claims the company continued selling the televisions despite repeated cease-and-desist demands issued after she became aware of the alleged infringement in June 2025. The filing accuses Samsung of copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and violating her right of publicity, calling the company’s response “dismissive and callous.”

The suit further argues that Samsung intentionally leveraged Lipa’s global fame to boost sales, citing social media posts from consumers who said her image influenced their purchasing decisions. The singer is seeking at least $15 million in damages, along with profits tied to the sales of the allegedly infringing products and a court order to halt their distribution.

Samsung has not publicly responded to the allegations as of May 10.
