BALTIMORE, Md. — A 20-year-old Halethorpe man is facing murder and assault charges after Baltimore Police say he was arrested in connection with a South Baltimore shooting that left one man dead and two others injured.

Taiquan Thomas was taken into custody without incident on July 15 in Catonsville by Baltimore Police Warrant Apprehension detectives, ending a search that followed the June 6 shooting in the city’s Southern District.

Investigators allege Thomas was responsible for the gunfire that erupted around 2:51 a.m. in the 1000 block of South Hanover Street, where responding officers found three men suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victims — ages 35, 40, and 41 — were rushed to area hospitals. The two younger victims survived with injuries police described as non-life-threatening. The 41-year-old victim, later identified as Curtis Knox, was critically wounded and later died from his injuries, prompting detectives to upgrade the case from an attempted homicide investigation to a homicide.

Following an investigation by Southern District detectives, Thomas was identified as the suspect. After his arrest, he was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree assault.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.  Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Southern District detectives at 410-396-2499 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
