On April 20, law enforcement officials in Michigan announced that following an investigation by the Detroit Police Department (DPD), the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office charged 59-year-old Cedric Jackson, a Detroit resident, in connection with the heinous kidnapping and sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl.

Background: On April 17 at approximately 3:15 p.m., police alleged that Jackson lured the victim into his house in the 15700 block of Braile Street, kept her there against her will, and sexually assaulted her. The child was reported missing by her mom when she didn’t return home from school that day.

After he assaulted her, Jackson released the 10-year-old from his home.  “Information from the school led to Detroit police school police officers taking Jackson into custody and calling the Detroit Police Department to investigate.”

“Predators are very good at what they do — especially sexual predators. The alleged actions of this defendant targeted a 10-year-old girl. It is difficult to understand that there are those who would sexual assault victims who are 10, and even younger. No matter how long we do this work, it gets us in the gut every time,” Prosecutor Kym Worthy said. ~ Click On Detroit.

Jackson has been charged with criminal sexual conduct first degree (victim under 13-17), kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment. Following his arraignment on April 20, he was remanded to jail. DPD investigators will remain involved with this matter and will assist the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office as it prosecutes this case.
