Actor and comedian Faizon Love, best known for his memorable roles in Friday, Elf, and Couples Retreat, was arrested in Florida on June 16, 2026, in connection with a child support case that has been unfolding in court for years.

According to records from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the 58-year-old actor was booked into jail on two counts of contempt of court. Authorities say Love is being held without bond at the Orient Road Jail in Tampa.

Court records indicate the arrest stems from a long-running paternity and child support dispute involving a Hillsborough County family court case originally filed in 2019. Reports indicate Love’s paternity was established early in the proceedings and that the case has involved multiple court actions related to child support payments and financial disclosures.

According to reports reviewed by multiple news outlets, the case involves allegations that Love owes approximately $250,000 in unpaid child support. Court filings also reportedly show ongoing disputes over compliance with court orders, including financial documentation requirements.

Love’s attorney, Glen R. Lansky, confirmed that the actor was initially taken into custody in California before being transported to Hillsborough County, Florida, where the warrant was issued.

Earlier this year, a judge reportedly ordered Love to surrender and serve a jail sentence after he failed to appear for a scheduled hearing. Love had cited a medical emergency as the reason for missing the court appearance.

Representatives for the actor had not publicly commented on the latest developments as of June 18.

Who Is Faizon Love? Born in Cuba and raised in the United States, Love built a successful career as a stand-up comedian before becoming a familiar face in film and television.
