British singer Lauren Bennett, whose soaring vocals helped propel LMFAO’s 2011 smash hit “Party Rock Anthem” to worldwide success, has died at the age of 37. Her death was confirmed July 6 by her former bandmates in the girl group G.R.L., who paid tribute to her in an emotional social media statement.
“Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us,” the group wrote. “We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.”
According to reports, Bennett died in England on May 29, 2026. Authorities have not released a cause of death, and an inquest has been scheduled for October.
Born on June 24, 1989, in Meopham, Kent, England, Bennett began pursuing music as a teenager after appearing on The X Factor in the United Kingdom. She later joined the pop group Paradiso Girls, whose 2009 debut single “Patron Tequila,” featuring Lil Jon and Eve, introduced her to an international audience.
Following the group’s breakup, Bennett launched a solo career and collaborated with artists including will.i.am and CeeLo Green before landing the performance that would define her career.
In 2011, Bennett provided the memorable bridge and hook vocals on LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem,” one of the biggest songs of the decade. The infectious dance-pop anthem topped the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks, reached No. 1 in dozens of countries, became one of the best-selling digital singles in music history, and amassed billions of views on YouTube.
Bennett later became a member of G.R.L., the pop group behind songs including “Vacation,” “Wild Wild Love” with Pitbull, and “Ugly Heart,” which became a Top 20 hit in the United Kingdom. The group endured tragedy in 2014 following the death of fellow member Simone Battle, leading Bennett and her bandmates to release the tribute single “Lighthouse“ while promoting mental health awareness before the group’s eventual breakup and later reunion.
Beyond her work with G.R.L., Bennett continued releasing solo music, including singles such as “Hurricane” and “Reality.” In recent months, she had begun exploring country music, sharing new recordings and covers with fans online.
Bennett is also survived by her child, whom she shared with actor and dancer Kenny Wormald, star of the 2011 remake of Footloose. Her death marks the loss of a vocalist whose voice became synonymous with one of pop music’s most recognizable anthems and whose career spanned girl groups, solo projects, and international chart success.
