On April 19 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Officers with the Tulsa Police Department responded to the Shoreline Apartments near 21st and I-44 for a shooting.  When police arrived on the scene, they found one male victim lying inside a doorway suffering from a gunshot wound.   Witnesses to the shooting identified the shooting suspect as Luis Garcia, saying that he came to the apartment and began banging on the door.

The victim walked to the door to see what was wrong, and at one point, Garcia fired a shot through the door, hitting the victim.  The victim was transported to the hospital and expected to be fine.

With assistance from the Fugitive Warrants Unit, Garcia was located leaving a home near Pine and Sheridan yesterday afternoon. When Officers initiated a traffic stop, Garcia took off and a pursuit ensued. Garcia hit a curb and damaged several of his tires during the pursuit.

The pursuit ended near Pine and Lewis when Garcia collided with another vehicle and crashed. Garcia attempted to flee into a nearby park but was taken into custody with help from K9 Diego.

Garcia was transported to the hospital but will eventually be booked into the Tulsa County Jail on his outstanding warrants, along with additional charges related to the pursuit.

The Mingo Valley Division Street Crimes Unit began working the case, and yesterday morning, Luis Garcia was charged with:

  • Shooting with Intent to Kill
  • Discharging a Weapon Into Dwelling or Public Space
